Jaguar E Type Series 1 4.2 Coupe. 1967 E registration. OPO42E is an original UK supplied E type first registered in January 1967 making it one of the last series 1 coupes built. Over the last few years we have completely rebuilt this car from the ground up. We are now very pleased to be able to present it in its original colour of Old English white with dark red interior. This must be one of the most perfect E Types currently for sale, every effort has been made so that it remains original throughout apart from uprated front brake calipers and a stainless steel exhaust. The painstaking restoration consisted of the following:
BODY
The car was completely stripped of all components and then it went for media blasting where any rust and filler was removed revealing all areas that needed replacement or repair. Many panels were replaced including the doors, the rear wings, the sills and the complete underside including the boot area. All panels were lead loaded as they should be. Once the body was complete the chrome work, glass, lights, and other fittings including all panels were fitted and adjusted where necessary to achieve perfect gaps before the final paint process. The chrome was sent to a specialist for re-chroming.
SUSPENSION & REAR AXLE
The front suspension and steering was all disassembled and all worn parts were replaced and others were sent for zinc plating and powder coating where required. The rear axle was completely rebuilt with new parts including all the brakes and suspension. The cage and and all its components were powder coated and zinc plated.
ENGINE & GEARBOX
The engine was completely stripped down to the block, new components were purchased and the block, crank, conrods and flywheel and all other required parts went for machining and balancing. Once back the engine was built with new pistons etc and the head was also completely rebuilt. The four speed gearbox was also stripped and completely rebuilt.
INTERIOR
The interior and headlining have been completely re-trimmed, the steering wheel is the original and has been restored. All dials have been rebuilt and re-calibrated. The wiring throughout the car has been replaced with a new wiring loom. The period radio has been modernised.
