1968 Jaguar E-Type 4.2-Litre Series 1½ Roadster

Registration: KCK 473F

Chassis: IE 17145

For many collectors and enthusiasts, the Jaguar E‑Type Series 1.5 offers the best balance between authenticity and usability. It retains the elegant body shape and character of the early Jaguar E‑Type Series 1, but incorporates subtle improvements that make it easier to own and drive. Features such as improved cooling, more modern rocker switches, and simplified open headlights make maintenance and regular use more practical, while still preserving the classic E-Type driving experience. Because Series 1.5 cars are often less expensive than Series 1 models, collectors can enjoy nearly the same iconic design and heritage while acquiring a rarer transitional variant that represents an important step in the evolution of the E-Type.

Dispatched new to the USA in 1968, this matching-numbers ‘Series 1½’ Roadster began life finished in Primrose Yellow with black trim — a striking combination it proudly wears once more today. Believed to be among the last US bound examples fitted with the coveted triple SU carburettors, it represents a particularly desirable moment in E-Type evolution.

Sourced from a dry state, the car arrived in the UK remarkably rust-free, retaining its original Jaguar panels. What followed was a meticulous, nut-and-bolt restoration to concours standard. The body required minimal correction before being refinished in its original Primrose Yellow, the panel fit and detailing now reflecting the quality of the car’s unspoilt foundations.

The original 4.2-litre engine was mechanically overhauled. The triple SUs were rebuilt and the matching-number gearbox was restored while preserving as many original components as possible. The rear suspension and differential were refurbished, and even the starter, alternator and wiper motor retain their original date stamps. During restoration, the car was converted to factory specification right hand drive. New reclining seats have been fitted, along with a new steering wheel.

The extensive history file includes its original book pack, a Heritage Certificate from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, restoration photographs, previous invoices, MOTs, V5 and more.

Beautifully restored, authentically detailed and mechanically superb, KCK 473F is a superb example of one of Britain’s most iconic sports cars. This Jaguar E Type is ready to be driven, shown, and admired. 52 thousand miles showing.
